A baby girl was rescued and five persons including the baby’s mother were arrested in a suspected baby selling case.
Acting on a tip off, police arrested a man at a coffee shop at MJC this morning at 6 am.
The suspect aged 51 from Jalan Pisang Barat was trying to find a buyer for a baby and the asking price was RM17,000.
Police found an Indonesian passport on him. The man then led police to a snooker centre in Batu Kawa where they arrested three women aged between 19 to 29 years old. A new born baby girl was found there.
Upon checking, the police found that the mother of the baby was not there and they went back to the coffee shop where on the third floor, the mother of the baby was identified.
The passport found on the first suspect belonged to the mother of the baby.
State CID Chief SAC Zulkifli Hassan confirmed the case and said that the case was investigated under Human trafficking. He said all the five were detained for further questioning.
The baby was brought to the Sarawak General hospital and found to be well. She has been referred to the Welfare department.
