Earlier on that day at 1.15 am, the police pounced on a couple aged 46 and 30 in a house at Bukit Assek. The man who had a previous drug conviction was being monitored by police in recent weeks. Police found that the man was in possession of 6 packets of shabu and his girlfriend, a packet. The man is to be charged under Section 39A of the Dangerous Drug Act while his girlfriend is to be charged Under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drug Act.

The suspect then led police to the rented house in Sg. Merah Ulu.

Shafie said the total value of drug seized would be worth more than RM30,000 in the market. He said the four were all tested positive for drugs. They are to be detained for further questioning.

Initial investigation, said Shafie showed that the Port Dickson woman had been to Sarawak a number of times. He said she arrived in Sibu early January and has not left. He said police are now finding out whether she had brought in the drugs herself or whether there were other methods being used.

He believed that the drugs were to be used for entertainment outlets during the Chinese New year. Drug abuse is rampant in night entertainment joints in the state.
