Masing Finally Broke His Silence After Koyok In Pelagus

 by Abdul Hakim Bujang

Whenever he opened his mouth to comment, whatever comes out will be very irritating. The woman sitting next to me was pointing to James Masing photograph in The Borneo Post. I don’t know her. Honestly.

She said Masing sister was her friend, and all the following remarks said about the Minister is not fit for publication. If am writing it, the poor woman identity would be exposed.

SMC Did Not Discuss Rakyat Problem, Alleged ADUN Dudong

SIBU – A DAP representative from Dudong constituency, Yap Hoi Leong sat through the Sibu Municipal council (SMC) monthly meeting this morning from 10 am to 11 am as part of his duty to let the people know what the council is doing.

Talking to Sarawak Update after the meeting, Yap said he is disappointed that what he has brought up recently to the council was not even discussed in their meeting.
Yap had on Wednesday wrote a letter to both the SMC and Sibu Rural District council (SRDC) informing them that he would sit in their monthly meeting to supervise their work.
He said he wanted to be the eye and ears of the public and to see transparency at work.

When he arrived this morning at the council, he was given a chair behind the Councillors. As he was not invited to speak, Yap observed the meeting and took notes. Although most of the council staff ignored him, Yap said he was there to help facilitate and initiate change for the people.

He told Sarawak Update that he had asked the council to look into two issues, woes of the people which affected their daily lives. One, he said was on infrastructure and another on a feed mill which had been giving the residents there nightmares for the past 20 years.

A feed mill at Upper Lanang Road was there for the past 20 years and despite hundreds of complaints from residential housing at Lada, Grand Heights and Sukun estates, the authorities appeared to take a mute stand on the matter.

Yap said he had written a letter to SMC, Natural Resources and Environmental Board, Sibu and Minister of Industrial development Sarawak.

“The SMC never even discuss the problem faced by the people,” he said. Yap wondered why no action was taken against the feed mill as it concerned the health, environment of the thousands of residents staying there.

He said the people should be told what emission come from the pungent smell they breath in daily or whether there is any breech of law or by law that the authority can take against the feed mill.

Yap said there should be a solution from the authority and a deadline to implement it. He added that he would continue to pursue the matter.

Why Do Rakyat Seeks Opposition Help?

A few days prior to the nomination day of Sarawak State Election, I was told an Assistant Minister at Chief Minister Office will be visiting my residential area. He is the incumbent Barisan Nasional (BN) ADUN.

I was told by a Rela officer, who happened to be a close associate of Deputy Minister of Works to wait for the YB and told him our predicament personally.

Having write very nasty commentary on the Assistant Minister, I don't expect him to be nice to me.

So I tell him about the huge hole near my housing main road, drainage problem and try to strike a friendly conversation.

He was clearly annoyed upon seeing me and take note of all my complaint.

"I will inform the Padawan Municipal Council, (PMC)" he told me.

Fast forward, one month after the election the hole grew bigger and PMC never show up.

I send sms to a Chinese reporter friend seeking his help to highlight the problem via Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) newly elected representative.

The PKR guy is not the ADUN of Batu Kawah but he took the trouble attending to my complaint on a public holiday.

He promised to write to PMC and highlight our predicament as requested.

I could not understand how our BN YB's work.

Some are good, some are very good, some are extremely good but many are obviously plain winnable candidates that can deliver the much needed seats to form the government. Politic.

Political landscape is steadily changing. BN no longer facing useless, annoying, irritating or good for nothing opposers.

If the BN YB's continue to behave like the chosen one, they will end up being voted out. This is not a warning. It had happened and will repeat.

Some BN ADUN or MP never have service centre. Some have service centre but erected in Kuching city when their Kawasan is somewhere else. Why not open up service centre in Uganda?

Sometime I feel like throwing up receiving too many bad news, complaint and issues brought up via the opposition YBs.

I rarely saw or write news about Rakyat bringing their grouses to the BN guys.

More interestingly majority of the genuine complaint brought to the opposition leader would be solved.

Why can't the BN leaders attend to these problems? Are they themselves part of the problems? Are they afraid?

I could not figure it out. May be am not entitled me to an accepted opinion. Why do Rakyat Seeks Opposition Help?
